1: Why are they killing their allies?

Tornopian expansion is only held in check by there lack of Terraforming technology. As such one of the Confederation's goals is to obtain this technology. The Alliance originally convinced the Tornopians into attacking the Symphonians with promises that they may loot any such technology they find.

Tornopians have no love for their allies and their allies wish to prevent Tornopian expansion by any means. Tornopians know this. Meaning that any xeno witnesses of the Tornopian obtaining this tech must be killed.

2:How do the Vwynn Know?

Vwynn are psychic... REALLY psychic. The blue speech color means they are telepathically communicating with each other.
